What is CLIMB ?#

**CLIMB logo**

CLIMB (Cloud Infrastructure for Microbial Bioinformatics) is the UK’s leading cloud computing infrastructure originally designed for microbial bioinformatics and now available for the broader community. We provide researchers with powerful computational resources, specialised tools, and dedicated support to accelerate discoveries in genomics, microbiology, public health, and beyond.

Our mission#

CLIMB exists to democratise access to cutting-edge computational resources for all bioinformaticians, no matter their career level. We aim to accelerate scientific discovery by providing researchers with the infrastructure, tools, and support needed to analyse their data efficiently and effectively.

Key features#

  • Powerful Computational Resources. Access computing resources from anywhere through flexible JupyterLab environments with options for vCPU and vGPU resources to tackle your most complex analyses, to train the new generation of bioinformaticians, or to perform your routine analyses.
  • Specialised for Microbial Research - available for all. Pre-installed bioinformatics tools, reference databases, and Nextflow workflows specifically designed for microbial genomics and metagenomics analysis. And we are open to listen to your needs and broaden what we offer!
  • Secure and Collaborative. Share resources within your team, control access permissions, and maintain data security while collaborating on research projects.
  • Expert Support. Our team provides documentation, tutorials, and direct support to help you make the most of CLIMB capabilities.

CLIMB packages#

CLIMB provides access through justified packages, aligned with specific use cases:

  • Research. Support for funded research projects, multi-institutional collaborative research, PhD and postdoctoral research activities, international research collaboration.
  • Training. Bioinformatics skills development, capacity building initiatives, workshops and tutorials.
  • Surveillance. Public health surveillance activities, pathogen monitoring and analysis, emergency response capabilities, collaboration with public health agencies.
  • Trial. Time-limited access for evaluation purposes or proof-of-concept activities, transition pathway to sustained access, new user onboarding and assessment.
